Judge orders jail time and for the child to be “caught up” with 8 vaccines in a week.
Troy, MI ~Michigan for Vaccine Choice believes that the decision to vaccinate or withhold vaccinations is a decision for parents to make, not the court. The Michigan legislature is clear, state law allows a parent to exempt their child from any vaccine requirements for medical, religious or conscientious reasons. In this case, Rebecca Bredow has complied with the Michigan Statute and has legally exempted the child from vaccination for the past 7 years. It is unfortunate that this has now become a focus of the proceedings with the child’s father. Vaccination is a medical procedure that is not 100% safe or effective, and carries real risks of harm, sometimes permanent. The Supreme Court of the United States even recognizes this and classifies vaccines as “unavoidably unsafe”. Unfortunately, because of legal maneuvers and poor representation, Rebecca is faced with vaccinating her child with an array of vaccines, including the HPV vaccine (which is not required for Michigan school children), or go to jail.
Rebecca did not comply with the judge’s order to vaccinate her child and was charged with criminal contempt. For this reason she will face one week in jail and her ex-husband has been ordered to catch their 9 year-old son up on all vaccinations within the week. It is unfortunate that the decision to vaccinate became the focus of this judge under the guise of criminal contempt. The judge held the power to jail parent and not require vaccination, but chose to do both.
“As the primary caregiver of the child, it is unfortunate Rebecca’s objections on this matter have not been adequately represented or enforced. Unfortunately, should the child experience any harm from the 8 vaccines at once, the fact is Rebecca will be the only one left to care for that child, not the father, the judge, or the doctor. “ states Joel Dorfman, of Michigan for Vaccine Choice.
